Do you ever just feel so alone in something it becomes overwhelming and most of the time you give up or experience little to no success?
I’ve found that a support system is key to success in, not only my health and fitness goals, but in finding happiness in my life.
In the beginning of my journey I never felt like I had any support. I thought that this was a journey I had to go on alone. Never mind the fact that I would hide that I was trying to lose weight and wouldn’t tell anyone about my vision for myself.
The reality was that my support system was there – I made a choice to ignore them – writing this today I realize that a support system helps me to stay motivated and focused on my new lifestyle rather than falling back into old ways.
To me, a support system is a large web of various intertwining parts – mine includes family, friends, co-workers, my personal trainer, my Advocare squad, Facebook Groups I belong to, fellow bloggers, books, etc.
- Kick in the A$$
- Fresh ideas
- Similar Goals
- Planning & Preparation
- And so much more
If you are sitting there reading this and are like I used to be – trying to do it alone, DON’T. In a recent book I read it discussed how the majority of people who go at health/wellness/fitness goals alone, fail.
At the minimum, tell someone you trust your goals talk to them about how they can be a part of your journey.
I admit I am one of the most stubborn people, but after failing so many times on my own – I had no choice but to suck it up and ask for help. Personally, sharing my goals with others and speaking them aloud sealed my commitment to them.
The first time I asked for help was to my friend Katelyn who introduced me to the world of Advocare .. And it is all history from there. I am forever greatful for that introduction and kick start on this journey.
Maybe you feel like you have no one that would ever support you – look a little closer at your relationships maybe you are choosing not to have a support system. Still feel like you have no one/nothing for support?: I am here for you.
You’ll also find that as you get further into your journey you’ll meet people along the way who will become a part of your support system, and you theirs.
All of this also connects back to who you surround yourself with. Surround yourself with positive and encouraging people. You need cheerleaders, you need people in your corner. Find someone in each area of your life who will be there for you (whether it be work, school, your gym, book club, whatever).
You can do this! You can do it all, with the support of your tribe!
Has someone come into your mind that negatively impacts or is counter intuitive to these goals? Perhaps talk to this person about how they are affecting you and what you want to accomplish.
“I want to be around people that do things. I don’t want to be around people anymore that judge or talk about what people do. I want to be around people that dream and support and do things.”
We’ve got this,
